Crochet your own “taxidermy”

I made this a while back and never posted the pattern! Alright, honestly I didn’t even realize I wrote it down…
But I’m sharing her now, so that counts for something right?

Supplies:
-G- hook
-Worsted weight yarn in any color you choose
-Yarn needle
-Safety eyes and nose, the eyes I used are 25mm, or you can use embroidery floss or yarn.
-poly-fil stuffing, A TON of it. This head will take so much stuffing, so much…..

**Muzzle/Head:**
1. 10sc in magic circle – 10
2. 2sc in each st around – 20
3. ( sc, inc )10x – 30
4. sc 14, inc, ( sc 2, inc )3x, sc 7 – 34
5 – 13. sc around – 34
14. In front loops only: ( sc 3, inc )8x, sc 2 – 42 If you are using different colors for muzzle and head change to head color now.
15. ( sc 5, inc )7x – 49
16. ( sc 6, inc )7x – 54
If using a safety nose, attach now. Begin stuffing, keep stuffing firmly the entire time.
17. ( sc 7, inc )7x – 63
18. ( sc 8, inc )7x – 70
19. ( sc 9, inc )7x – 77
20. ( sc 10, inc )7x – 84
21. ( sc 3, inc )11x, sc 51 – 95
If using safety eyes,attach now.
22. – 42. sc around – 95 each row
43. ( sc 3, dec )11x, sc 40 – 84
44. ( sc 10, dec )7x – 77
45. ( sc 9, dec )7x – 70
46. ( sc 8, dec )7x – 63
47. ( sc 7, dec )7x – 54

Fasten off, sew shut

**Ears: make two**
Ch 2
1. 6sc in 2nd ch from hk – 6
2. 2ac in each st around – 12
3. ( sc, inc )6x – 18
4. ( sc 2, inc )6x – 24
5. ( sc 3, inc )6x – 30
6. ( sc 4, inc )6x – 36
7. – 13. sc around – 36 each row
Fasten off, do not stuff, leave long tail for sewing.

**Eyelids: make two**

Ch 6

Starting in the second ch from the hk:
2sc, sc 3, 2sc

**Flower Crown: optional**
Ch 2
1. 5sc in second ch from hk – 5
2. switch to petal color, ch 3, slip stitch into next st, ch 3, slip st into next st, continue around.
Fasten off, leave tail for sewing
For the headband, I just chained a length I was happy with.

**Assembly:**

* Fold ears in half and sew onto head.
* Sew eyelids over eyes
* Loop a small amount of yarn or rope through the back for hanging.

  1. Thank you SO much for this FREE pattern!! I think your bear head is adorable. I’m going to make it for a friend of mine who is having her first grandbaby boy. Her daughter is doing the nursery in the woodland theme, so this bear head will to perfectly. I’m going to make him out of the fuzzy velvet yarn and make him black with brown muzzle. Quick question, around how many grams or yards did this head take? I’m getting some black velvet and the skeins are like 280 grams each. I’m kind of thinking i’ll need like 5? would that be enough do you think.
