Trick-or-Treat!

Halloween seems to lose something when you’re no longer picking out the perfect costume and walking around at night asking for free candy. And where I live is too rural for trick or treaters, so this year I made my own!

LITTLE WITCH

**_Terms_**:
ch – chain
hk – hook
sc – single crochet
st – stitch
inc – increase ( 2sc in the same stitch )
dec – decrease ( sc two stitches together )

**_Supplies:_**
G-hook
Worsted weight yarn in any color you choose. You will need skin tone, a small amount of white and clothing colors.
Yarn needle
Safety eyes or felt for eyes
Poly-fil stuffing
Tulle ( optional )

**_Head:_**
Using skin tone: Ch 2
1. 6sc in second ch from hk – 6
2. 2sc in each st around – 12
3. ( sc, inc )6x – 18
4. ( sc 2, inc )6x – 24
5. ( sc 3, inc )6x – 30
6 – 11. sc around – 30 each row
12. ( sc 3, dec )6x – 24
13. ( sc 2, dec )6x – 18
*if using safety eyes, attach them now. I put mine in at row #6.
* begin stuffing, stuff firmly
14. ( sc, dec )6x – 12
15. dec 6 – 6
Fasten Off, weave in ends.

**_Hair:_**
Using hair color of choice, Ch 2
1. 6sc in second ch from hk – 6
2. 2sc in each st around – 12
3. ( sc, inc )6x – 18
4. ( sc 2, inc )6x – 24
5. ( sc 3, inc )6x – 30
6 – 10. sc around – 30 each row
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing onto head.

**_Pigtails:_ **make two
Ch 2
1. 5sc in second ch from hk – 5
2 – 3. sc around – 5
4. sc 2 in each st around – 10
5 – 7. sc around – 10 each row
8. dec 5
*stuff now
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing

**_Feet/Legs:_ **make two
Using shoe color: Ch 2
1. 5sc in second ch from hk – 5
2. 2sc in each st around – 10
3. ( sc, inc )5x – 15
4. ( sc 2, inc )5x – 20
5. sc around – 20
6. ( sc 2, dec )5x – 15
7. ( sc, dec )5x – 10
8. sc around – 10
*begin stuffing
*switch to white
9 – 10. sc around – 10 each row
*switch to black
11. sc around – 10
*switch to white
12 – 13. sc around – 10 each row
*switch to black
14. sc around – 10
*switch to white
15 – 16. sc around – 10 each row
*switch to black
17. sc around – 10
Fasten off

_**Body: **_
*using the clothing color
Hold both legs side by side, insert the hook thought the inside of of one leg into the second leg.

Yarn over the hook and pull through both legs.

Yarn over the hook and pull through loop on hook. Your legs are now connected by one stitch.
Insert the hook through the next stitch on both legs, single crochet, your legs are now connected by two stitches.

Starting in the first stitch on the left leg:

Sc 8, now move to the second leg:

Sc 8 around second leg, you now have a total of 16 stitches in clothing color.

1 – 3. sc around – 16 each row
4. in back loops only: sc around – 16
5 – 10. sc around – 16 each row
*continue the stuffing, stuff firmly
11. dec 11, fasten off, leave long tail,for sewing.

**_Arms:_ **Make two
Using skin tone, Ch 2
1. 4sc in second ch from hk – 4
2. 2sc in each st around – 8
3 – 4. sc around – 8
5. dec, sc 2, dec, sc 2 – 6
6 – 10. sc around – 6
*switch to clothes color
11. 2sc in each stitch around – 12
12 – 14. sc around – 12 each row
* do not stuff arm, using one or two stitches, sew just below the shirt sleeve sealing the arm itself shut.
* stuff the sleeve
15. dec 6, sew shut. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

**_Skirt:_**
*using clothes color yarn, slp stitch in to the front loops of row #4
1. ( 2sc in first stitch, skip he following stitch ) repeat around – 16
2. ( sc 3, inc )4x – 20
3. 2sc in each st around – 40
4 – 6. sc around – 40 each row
Fasten off, weave in ends.

_**Hat:**_
Using black, Ch 2
*if you aren’t going to fold the top of the hat, skip row #5*
1. 4sc in second ch from hk – 4
2. sc around – 4
3. 2sc in each st around – 8
4 – 5. around – 8
6. ( sc, inc )4x – 12
7. sc around – 12
8. ( sc 2, inc )4x – 16
9. sc around – 16
10. ( sc 3, inc )4x – 20
11. sc around – 20
12. ( sc 4, inc )4x – 24
13. sc around – 24
14. *in front loops only, ( sc 5, inc )4x – 28
15. ( sc 6, inc )4x – 32
Fasten off, weave in ends.

_**Pumpkin Pail:**_
Using orange, Ch 2
1. 5sc in second ch from hk – 5
2. 2sc in each st around – 10
3. using back loops only: ( sc, inc )5x – 15
4 – 5. sc around – 15 each row
6. ( sc, dec )5x – 10
Fasten Off.
Use felt or yarn to add face. Use yarn or pipe cleaner for handle.

**_Assembly:_**

* See hair onto head
* Sew head onto body
* Sew arms onto body
* Add any details to face and dress

Finished size: 7 inches without her hat on.
