Replanting succulents, up cycled plant holder!

Some days I just don’t wanna crochet! 😫 horrible, I know, but when it gets sticky hot I don’t really want to be sitting on furniture with a skein of yarn in my lap. Today its sticky, damp, rainy, just not feeling any motivation at all!! I do feel like I need to be productive though so I found a simple little project that only took an hour or so.

I love myself some succulents, they’re gorgeous and easy to maintain. For Mother’s Day the mister got me THREE new ones, all were planted happily with the others and we’re doing great! A few days ago I noticed my little lotus was being suffocated by his “roommate”. That would just not do!! So I quickly made him a deluxe apartment in the sky!😃

I used a mason jar, doily, and some yarn. Channel your inner high schooler and make some “ropes” for hanging. I just went with the round friendship bracelets we all used to make! Ran a strand of yarn through the top of the doily and cinched it around the jar. Securely tied on my ropes, planted the succulent and viola! Upcycled and pretty:

Now if the sun would come out we’d be good to go!!

Gracie the Elephant

My cousin has an absolutely gorgeous little girl. She has fiery red hair and is always dressed in lovely shades of muted pinks and purples. Stunning child and so sweet as well! During our last visit, she had gotten ahold of one of the tiny elephants I had made and just loved it. The problem was it already belonged to my youngest niece…

For her first birthday I decided to make her her own elephant, this one is larger for actual hugging and carrying around. ( the kids been walking for months already!! )

This stuffie stands about 7 inches tall and has been named after the birthday girl.

Tag Sale season!!!

Tag sale season, or yard sale depending on where you’re from, started here about a month ago. We have a bit of a disadvantage to going as my mister works Saturday’s and I don’t like going without him…. I know lame, but I need his muscles! But we scour Craigslist every Thursday and make a checklist of the ones in our area we can hit before he leaves.

Today, it paid off Big Time!! We hit up a six house neighborhood tag sale just down the street from us. Perfect, just park in the middle and walk. By the end, the older home owners were discussing the 50s and 60s with us and smiling at the pile next to our car. ( quick shoutout to my VW Golf for fitting it! )

Made fast friends with the older gentleman who sold us the WORKING record player with all original paperwork for a measly $15!!

Mister is super excited about his new Pyrex, and I’m loving the lines on my new chair 😍

So here’s to tag sale season, I hope all of you who shop like us find the ultimate treasures this summer!

    Car shows and crochet

So I spent this past Saturday at a local car show with my cousin. He was showing his 1963 Falcon. While I love all things vintage ( cars included ) there’s only so much sitting one can do and walking through the cars loses interest quickly. What’s one to do?? Bring yarn and hooks of course!

    Look at his pretty! 😀

Being a car show, I decided a keychain was in order. And being on a Studio Ghibli kick, it was only logical that I make a Chuu Totoro for said keychain. So I sat on the ground and whipped him up in about an hour.

Ahhh, he’s so cute, I love him!! ( ugh, please disregard my beat/dirty car, thank you )

Stay tuned, his pattern as well as Chibi Totoro are coming soon!
